I started as an associate in 1996 and bought my first practice three years later. What followed was twenty-four years of ownership, three practices, a partnership with a national DSO, an executive role leading clinical services across roughly 250 practices, and a decade of work on the transaction side of dentistry. Each of those seats taught me something the others could not.

  Founded and leads Foundation Dental Alliance, an integrated organization serving dentists across every stage of their career through four connected offerings: Foundation Dental Mastermind, Luxury Dental Retreats, Foundation Dental Transitions, and Foundation Dental Intelligence.

• Vice President, Clinical Services

  North American Dental Group

  2023 – 2024

  Led clinical services across an organization of roughly 250 practices and more than 400 dentists. Built tailored training programs, conducted peer audits and clinical evaluations, shaped clinical standards for regulatory compliance, and served on the Oral Health Board directing organizational policy.

  Dentists in his mentorship cohort increased daily production by an average of 39 percent, alongside measurable improvement in diagnostic skill, comprehensive treatment planning, case presentation, and clinical efficiency.

• Founder & Owner

  Smiles by Arnold & Associates

  1996 – 2020

  Built a single practice into a nationally respected three-practice group operating at 31 percent EBITDA at the time of sale. Acquired two existing practices and launched a third from the ground up.

  The first practice nearly doubled in the first year of ownership, growing from approximately $530,000 to $1.04 million. The second grew from $900,000 to $1.6 million within the first year. The third, started in another state, reached $1.1 million in its first year of operation.

  Recruited, trained, and led three dental teams, mentoring as many as six associate dentists simultaneously. Several team members who developed during these years went on to executive roles inside dental service organizations.

• Transactions & DSO Development

  Private Equity Partnership, beginning 2015

  2015 – Present

  As the first dentist to partner with the firm’s original DSO, played an integral role in closing fifty to sixty transactions over three years. Contributed to the development of four separate dental service organizations, and has been a participant in transactions totaling more than $100 million.

  Work has included practice valuation, deal structure, negotiation on behalf of both sellers and buyers, mediation between dentists and acquirers, and more than sixty dentist reference calls guiding colleagues through the partnership process.

• Co-Founder & Chief Dental Officer

  SWYP Dental Media

  2018 – 2020

  Co-founded a mobile and desktop community for dental professionals built as a news aggregator and question-and-answer forum. Curated content from more than one hundred dental sources across thirty-plus topic categories and directed a team of more than twenty contributing authors.

Throughout my career I’ve had opportunities to serve dentistry beyond my own practices, through peer review, professional organizations, education, committees, and board service. Many of the honors below came from the same professional community I was fortunate enough to serve.
